Film Submission Deadline
All films must be submitted by this hard deadline. Late submissions may be screened at organizer discretion but will not be eligible for awards.

CHOOSE YOUR PATH
Track One
Horrify a Classic
Take an existing movie and transform it into a horror film. The film must clearly reference or parody the original source while presenting a substantially new horror interpretation.
  • Titanic → zombie survival story
  • Caddyshack → slasher film
  • The Wizard of Oz → psychological horror
Track Two
Horrify an Urban Legend
Create a completely original urban legend centered around a real Texas city, town, landmark, or location. Must be presented as found footage, recovered footage, or shockumentary style.
  • The Platypus of Plata
  • A haunted Texas water tower
  • Big Tex as a supernatural entity
  • A forgotten roadside attraction

$50
A $50 entry fee is required per film submission. Entry fees support venue costs, event operations, screening expenses, awards, marketing, and filmmaker programming.

Entry fees are non-refundable. If the event is canceled due to unforeseen circumstances, organizers may issue refunds or credits at their discretion.

THE LAW

10-Minute Limit
Films must be no longer than 10 minutes including credits. No exceptions.

Made During Competition
Films must be substantially created during the official twelve-day competition window beginning after the Kickoff Mixer.

Format: MP4 / H.264
MP4 (preferred), H.264 encoded, 1080p resolution recommended. Files that cannot be screened may be disqualified.

Required Paperwork
Talent & crew release forms, location agreements, music releases, and any applicable stock footage licenses must be obtained by the filmmaker.

Content Restrictions
No unlicensed copyrighted music/footage, unauthorized trademarks, pornographic content, real illegal activity, or material violating applicable law.

Judging Criteria
Creativity, storytelling, horror elements, originality, technical execution, and use of competition theme. All judging decisions are final.

Screening Rights
By submitting, participants grant organizers permission to screen the film for competition-related events. Filmmakers retain full ownership of their work.
